Ushio to Tora (Japanese: romanization: Ushio to Tora) is a supernatural manga series written and drawn by Kazuhiro Fujita. This manga was first published in a weekly magazine published in Japan. Then the publisher Shōgakukan published this manga from 1990 to 1996 in as many as 33 volumes.
Two years after the first publication of this manga, in 1992, an OVA series adaptation of this manga was made. The OVA series had a total number of 10 episodes released from September 11, 1992, to August 1, 1993  and an additional OVA entitled “Ushio to Tora: Comically Deformed Theater” (Japanese: う し お と と ら コ ミ カ ル ・ デ フ ォ ル メ 劇場) was released on October 1, 1993 . The entire OVA series is also released in the United States under license by ADV Films.
In the summer of 2015, MAPPA and Studio VOLN are reproducing the anime series to be broadcast on television. For the basis of the anime story, it refers to the manga story that was published in 1990. The first episode aired on Japanese television screens for the first time on July 3, 2015. Sentai Filmworks holds the official license of the anime series for this television.
The great adventure of Ushio, the swordsman who was chosen as the holder of the Devil’s Spear, and Tora, the powerful yōkai who always accompanies and protects Ushio, begins to find out the truth about his mother. During their wandering journey, they have met and eliminated many evil yōkai that threaten the safety of mankind and the yōkai nation. They are good friends with the yōkai who always help them with their troubles in their adventures. Not only the yōkai, they also met the four potential successors who wielded the Demon Spear who had been prepared by the jealous and disappointed Kōhamei Sect after learning that the Demon Spear was held by a boy who was friendly with the yōkai. On the way, Ushio not only finds out the truth about his mother, but he also finds out the secret behind the Devil Spear he is holding and the Hakumen no Mono which will be his opponent in risking the future of mankind and the survival of his friend’s yōkai nation.
Ushio Aotsuki (蒼 月 潮: Aotsuki Ushio)

The main character of the manga and anime series Ushio to Tora. The status is still a 2nd-grade junior high school student, the son of a shrine head and a woman magician, who is destined to become the holder of the Demon Spear (獣 の 槍: Kemono no Yari) which then turns her life into a wanderer and an evil yōkai exterminator to find the truth about her mother. has sealed his big enemy, namely Hakumen no Mono with a very strong kekkai. He is very kind to humans and yōkai, who is considered by many humans to be all evil and endanger the survival of mankind, but in fact, he is friends with many yōkai who help him in his wandering. Especially Tora, a very powerful tiger-shaped yōkai that he freed from the Demon Spear seal embedded in Tora’s body and would kill him if Tora did whatever he wanted. Loves his childhood friend, Asako, and cares deeply for Asako’s best friend who is also Ushio’s friend, Mayuko, and promises to protect them from anything that annoys them, especially yōkai.
Tora (と ら: Tora)

A tiger-shaped yōkai that migrated from China to Japan thousands of years ago. Sealed under the shrine altar belonging to the Aotsuki family over 500 years ago by the Demon Spear used by a samurai to destroy it because it was so strong and dangerous, earning it the nickname Nagatobimaru. Unfortunately, when fighting with this samurai, the samurai was exhausted and then sealed it by sticking the demonic spear into Tora’s body. After sticking his spear, the samurai died and Nagatobimaru was sealed for another 500 years. When Ushio is punished by his father for cleaning the temple, their fateful meeting occurs. And after that meeting, they became friends and worked together to destroy the great enemy of mankind and the yōkai nation, namely Hakumen no Mono. At first, Tora felt forced for fear of being killed by Ushio who wielded a demonic spear, but over time he enjoyed his new life with humans, especially after he found a substitute for his main meal, namely human meat into a hamburger given to Ushio’s friend, Mayuko.
