In this Katekyō Hitman REBORN! stories, Sawada Tsunayoshi or Tsuna is a student of Namimori Middle School. Poor at lessons, weak in sports so he was nicknamed Dame Tsuna (No-Good Tsuna). One day, Ms. Tsuna (Sawada Nana) gets a brochure about home tutors (catekyoshi) and immediately accepts them. But the home tutor who appears is a baby in a black coat who introduces himself as Reborn, a special hitman who comes from Italy to educate Tsuna as a candidate for Vongola X (Vongola Decimo / Vongola Juudaime).
In other words, Reborn wanted to make Tsuna the leader of the Vongola Family (Vongola mafia family). Tsuna of course doesn’t believe and desperately refuses, but Reborn’s will and strength is stronger so he can only surrender under Reborn’s upbringing. With Reborn’s tough upbringing, Tsuna learns everything he needs to know as a mafia, including Shinukidan (Dying Will Bullet) and Shinuki no Honoo (Dying Will Flame) which are powers that only members of the Vongola lineage have passed down from generation to generation. Throughout the course of the story, even though he still refuses to be involved with the mafia, Tsuna unknowingly begins to grow strong and confident which makes him much more suitable to become the leader of the Vongola. He also built friendships with several people.
Tsuna goes through various obstacles and trials on his way to becoming the leader of the Vongola, including fighting a criminal mafia who disguises himself as a Kokuyo Middle School student. Then Varia, the Vongola assassination squad led by Xanxus, the ninth Vongola son who is eyeing the reins of the Vongola family and runs a competition to determine it. To defeat Varia, Reborn recruits some of Tsuna’s classmates to become his Guardians: Gokudera Hayato, the dynamite expert who wants to be Tsuna’s right hand man, Yamamoto Takeshi, who thinks the mafia is just a game, Sasagawa Ryohei, captain of the energetic Namimori boxing club, Hibari Kyoya , the head of the disciplinary committee of Namimori Middle School, Lambo, the whiny mafia of the Bovino family and Chrome Dokuro, a woman who has a physical and mental connection with criminal Rokudo Mukuro also joins.
After defeating Varia, Tsuna and his friends are sent to the future and must face the Millefiore family, Vongola’s rivals who are trying to destroy the Vongola. They know that all Arcobaleno except past Reborn have been killed and to change the future, they must defeat the leader of the Millefiore family, Byakuran who has the power to communicate with him in other parallel worlds.
After defeating Byakuran, Tsuna and others return to the past and receive news that Tsuna must undergo Tsuna’s appointment ceremony to become the official leader of the Vongola. However, the ceremony is attacked by the Shimon family, who vow revenge for their first leader, Shimon Cozart, being betrayed by the first Vongola leader, Giotto. Using the power of the Shimon rings, they are able to destroy the Vongola rings, leaving Yamamoto seriously injured, and kidnapping Chrome.
However, an old man named Talbot arrives and reconstructs the Vongola rings into the Vongola Gear. Tsuna along with the remaining Guardians go to Shimon’s hideout and that’s where they have to fight Shimon with their pride at stake. In exchange, whoever was deemed defeated would be imprisoned in the Vendici Water Prison for life. Every time you win and lose in the battle, you will be given a key that shows the past of Shimon Cozart and Vongola Giotto. While the battle continues, it is known that Daemon Spade, one of the first Guardians of the Vongola family, was the one who kidnapped Chrome and the mastermind behind the battle between the two families with their own agenda.
After the fight against Daemon Spade ended, Arcobaleno experienced the same dream where they were visited by the man in the iron hat, Checker Face, who turned out to be none other than the person responsible for collecting the Arcobaleno and turning them into babies with ‘Niji no Noroi’ (Curse of the Rainbow. ). In this dream, Checker Face offers a way for the Arcobaleno to be free from their curse by running a royal battle where the Arcobaleno must choose people to fight on their behalf, and the Arcobaleno whose representatives have managed to survive to the end will be free from the curse that binds them.
